Jellyfish are a bizarre form of life utterly dissimilar to our own. The beautiful pulsating creature we associate as “Jellyfish” is only the last of fourteen distinct life stages, most others resemble plants. Lacking brains, bones or even vital organs, they are little more than water given shape. Yet despite a fragile structure, they have been undulating for over half a billion years, surviving multiple global extinction events.
Paradoxically, a swarm of these placid hunters have been known to depopulate large areas of more advanced life. They are a force of nature, the ocean which bites, they are the teeth in the water.
These wondrous, relaxing, lethal creatures inspired this series of 13 NFT oil paintings.
